New York on screen now

The Arconia, the Continental, the Gaslight and Logan Roy’s church: where this decade’s hits filmed.

The shows people are watching now still shoot on real New York streets. Only Murders in the Building borrows an Upper West Side courtyard, Succession buried Logan Roy on Park Avenue, Mrs. Maisel found her voice in Greenwich Village, and Russian Doll kept looping around Tompkins Square Park.

These lists put each show’s outdoor locations in walking order, with the season and episode where we could confirm it. Many of the buildings are homes, churches or working businesses: look from the sidewalk, keep doorways clear, and buy something if you go in.

Questions people ask

Where is the Arconia from Only Murders in the Building?

The outside and the courtyard are the Belnord, 225 West 86th Street at Broadway. It is a private apartment building, so view the gates from the sidewalk. The lobby and apartments were filmed elsewhere and on sets.

Can you visit the Continental Hotel from John Wick?

Not as a hotel. The outside is the Beaver Building at 1 Wall Street Court in the Financial District, which you can see from the street. The grand lobby was filmed in the Cunard Building at 25 Broadway, now an event space.

Where was Logan Roy’s funeral filmed?

Inside the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue at East 84th Street, for Succession season 4, episode 9, “Church and State.” It is a working Catholic parish; visit quietly outside services.

Is the Gaslight from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel real?

The Gaslight Cafe was a real basement club at 116 MacDougal Street that closed in 1971. The show used that doorway for some exteriors, but the club interior was a studio set.
