Primers for a Handmade Utopia
About
An exhibition on the hand-built, back-to-the-land houses of 1960s Northern California, drawn from the book Handmade Utopia by author David Jacob Kramer and photographer Michael Schmelling. It includes photographs, oral histories, handmade tools, archival material and a reading library. It's in the third-floor hallway gallery of the Foundation Building, 7 E 7th St (Astor Pl 6), open to the public weekdays noon–7 pm and weekends noon–6 pm through October 29. The architecture school's lecture page gives slightly different dates, so check before a late-month visit. Guild & Greyshkul is on view across the street at 41 Cooper Square.
