Raptorama!

About

Raptorama is a free family event where you can see live birds of prey up close at the Salt Marsh Nature Center in Marine Park, Brooklyn. It is put on with NYC Bird Alliance, the American Littoral Society and the MPA Forever Wild Committee, so you can meet the organisations involved while you look at the birds from close range. The event is on Saturday 17 October from noon to 2pm. Our listing marks it as free, and no age limit or registration is printed, so families with children are likely to feel at home. The NYC Parks page for Marine Park says the Salt Marsh Nature Center has been closed for construction, so check the NYC Parks listing for the exact meeting spot on the day. Marine Park is bounded by Flatbush, Gerritsen and Fillmore Avenues beside Jamaica Bay. No subway or bus directions are printed in our record, so use a journey planner. For more bird-themed outings on the calendar, Birding with Ryan runs at 9am on the same Saturday, The Art of Noticing: Mindful Birding at Wave Hill runs on Sunday 18 October, and a fall migration walk at Rockaway Community Park follows on 24 October.
