Three hours on Governors Island helping rebuild New York Harbor's oyster reefs — sorting and cleaning shell, mixing concrete, casting reef structures. Meet at the Battery Maritime Building and travel across together; expect to lift about 15lbs and get dirty. Open to 18 and over, or 16–17 with a guardian. New dates are released on the 15th of each month and they go quickly. It is the largest volunteer operation on our New York calendar.

Ninety minutes birding an island with nearly 240 recorded species, led by Annie Barry and free — binoculars lent out first come, first served. Registration is encouraged rather than required. Take the 2pm ferry at the latest from the Battery Maritime Building; the ferry ticket is separate.
