Every free and pay-what-you-wish window on a Friday at the 48 museums and gardens in our free museum guide, the ones that never charge, and the ones that are shut on Fridays so you do not cross town to a locked door.

7 NYC museums have a free or pay-what-you-wish window on Fridays, and 11 always-free museums are open.

Free for everyone: Whitney Museum (free 5–10pm); The Morgan Library (free 5–8pm); New York Historical (pay as you wish, 5–8pm); Poster House (free all day, until 9pm); The Frick Collection (free 5:30–9pm, first friday (not jan or sep)); Noguchi Museum (free, first friday). MoMA's free 5:30–8:30pm is for New York State residents only.
